After you have created some Streams and/or Collections you can start using the modules. Lifestream comes with two modules:
- The Lifestream module lets you show your updates from different Streams on your site. For example you may want to show your latest tweets or the latest updates from your favorite blogs (through RSS).
- The Lifestream Links module lets you show just links to your social profile or RSS sources. For example, instead of showing your latest tweets you can just add a link to your Twitter profile.
Lifestream module
Configure and position your module on your site with the standard module options. Then, configure the options for the module (see below for an explanation of each option):
Number of Items
Select how many items you want to show per Stream.
Stream Type
Select the type of stream you want to display.
- Single Feed: shows only one stream, choose which one on with the Feed ID option.
- Collection - Integrated: shows updates from all the streams of a Collection, in one single feed ordered by date and time.
- Collection - Grid: shows all the streams of a Collection on a grid layout. Each Stream shows its updates separately.
- Collection - Tabs: shows all the streams of a Collection on a tabbed layout. Each tab contains a Stream with its updates.
Feed ID
If you selected Single Feed as the Stream Type, select which stream you want to use.
Collection ID
If you selected any of the Collection options on Stream Type, select which Collection you want to use.
Display Tab Stream Icon
Chose whether to display an icon to identify the Stream type on the tabs.
Smart Filter
Applies the Smart Filter to your streams.
Text Before Stream
Optionally, enter some text to appear before streams.
Text After Stream
Optionally, enter some text to appear after streams.
Module Class Suffix
Enter a suffix to apply to the CSS class used for the module.
Caching
Choose if you want Lifestream to use the Global setting for caching or force it to be disabled. We recommend that you use some type of caching to reduce your site's load time.
Cache Time
Set how long (in seconds) to wait before refreshing the cache.
Lifestream Links module
The Lifestream Links module lets you display a list of links to the feeds on a Collection. Same as with the Lifestream module, configure the standard options as you do with any other module.
Then, configure the basic options (see below for an explanation of each option):
Source
Select the source for your links.
- Streams from a collection: lets you show all the links from Collection. You can select which collection on the Collection option.
- Selected streams below: lets you manually select which Streams you want to show.
Collection
If you selected a Collection as your source, choose which Collection you want to use.
Links
If you selected Streams as your source, you can select here which Streams you want to use. Use the green "Add" and the red "Remove" icons to move streams from the Available Streams section to the Selected Streams section. You can also change the order of the selected Streams using the green up/down arrows.
Layout
Select if you want the links to be displayed horizontally or vertically.
Show Link Title
Select if you want to show the title of the Streams.
Module Class Suffix
Enter a suffix to apply to the CSS class used for the module.
Caching

Cache Time
